not only in porto but all of the superior degrees institutions have a variation of the "traje académico". But the "classical" traje (Porto, Coimbra, Lisboa) I would say its similar to HP vibe

They didn’t wore uniforms in the books only a cloak over their own clothes, the uniforms was the studios idea since they wear uniforms in private schools in the UK.

Most boarding schools in the UK wear uniforms and have the houses system. Edinburgh has a school that also claims to be inspo for JKR.

not only freshmen, actually most freshmen only wear the "Traje" at the end of the year unless they are in a cultural group like a "tuna" or choir, the "traje" is mostly worn by older students
