@austinfoodadventures: Is this the best Indian food in the greater Austin Area? my friend Neal thinks so. I’ve been in desperate search of really good Indian food and more often than not I feel like most of them are meh in Austin. Neal was telling me this was the best Indian food in Texas and I didn’t believe him! LOL anyway @bayleaf_indian_restaurant_bar specializes in North Indian food specifically. Here’s what I ordered 1. Vegetable samosas 2 for 4 dollars 2. Aloo Tikki Chana Chaat 8 dollars (Potato patties with chaat chutneys and spices) 3. Mango lassi 4.5 4. Chicken tikka masala 14 5. Saag paneer 14 (Fresh spinach cooked with homemade cheese) 6. Malai Kofta 14 (veggie ball in light creamy sauce with raisins and cashews 7. Chicken biryani 14 8. Butter garlic naan 4 dollars each and huge. Thoughts? Lots of vegetarian and gluten free options. I liked the aloo tikki, the tang from the toppings melded well with the crispy bits and rich savory spicy sauce. I liked the potato Pattie’s but found them a tad salty. The samosa was delicious and the tamarind sauce and chutney on the side was really fresh and delicious. The curries were fab. By far the best chicken tikka masala I’ve had anywhere near here. I asked for medium but it was more spicy. Lots of flavor and they didn’t mess around with the heat. The meat tasted perfectly cooked in the chicken tikka and the ratio of cream, tomato was perfect. It was chef kiss with the perfectly cooked pillowy naan. The biryani was unlike any I’ve ever had. More on the saucy side and they didn’t mess around with the spice level. We got it spicy and my friend was sweating. It was really delicious though. But if you prefer your biryani more dry you may not like it. The malai kofta was really good too, I felt the balls were a bit dry but the flavor was good. The mango lassi is my favorite I’ve had in Austin. Thick and delicious! The saag paneer was excellent too. The only thing I did not like was the masala wings. Please don’t order these lol. #You can tell by the crowds of people inside that they are very popular and the food is very affordable! Service was friendly too! #atx #austinfoodadventures #roundrock #atxfoodtime
