This is Kenny. 💔 Kenny was a beautiful, much-loved five-year-old French Bulldog. He had a family who adored him, and a sister called Hope who was his companion. Kenny was also eating Years dog food. In May, while Kenny’s parents were away, they were told that he had started squinting. Nobody could have known then just how devastatingly things would progress. By June, his condition had deteriorated dramatically. His left eye ruptured, and poor Kenny was screaming in agony as blood dripped down his face. He was urgently referred to a specialist, where they discovered extremely deep corneal ulcers in both eyes. His left eye had ruptured, and both eyes were so severely affected that he needed surgery to try to save them. It was during this treatment that they discovered Kenny also had severe dry eye. His eyes had been far too painful and delicate to safely test beforehand, so it was only once they could properly assess him that the severity became apparent. But there was still hope. Kenny was booked in for further specialist surgery on 23 August. The procedure involved redirecting a salivary duct from his mouth to his eye, allowing saliva to help lubricate the eye and replicate some of the function of tears. His family were doing everything they could for him. But Kenny never got that chance. On 4 August 2026, Kenny passed away at just five years old. His mum wasn’t there when it happened. She came home to discover that her beautiful boy had already gone. And I want to be absolutely clear about something. We do not know what caused Kenny’s death. There has been a suggestion that he may have suffered some form of seizure, but this has not been confirmed. We are not saying that Years caused Kenny’s death, nor are we saying that his eye condition caused it. We simply don’t know whether the problems with his eyes played any part in his passing or whether they could have contributed in some way. What we do know is that Kenny was eating Years and subsequently developed devastating and incredibly painful problems with his eyes. His final months were filled with pain, surgery and specialist treatment. His family watched their five-year-old boy suffer, desperately trying to help him. And then, before he could have the procedure that might have given him some relief, they lost him. Kenny should have had so much more time. His sister Hope has now lost her brother, and his parents are absolutely devastated. Kenny’s mum wants his story told. She wants people to know what happened to her boy, and she is taking this further. But right now, she doesn’t feel strong enough to tell his story herself. She is simply too heartbroken. So she asked me to tell it for her. I’m sharing these photographs so you can see Kenny before all of this happened, happy, beautiful and enjoying his life, alongside photographs from the devastating months that followed, including his treatment and surgery. Please remember his face. Please remember his name. Kenny. 💔 His story deserves to be heard. Finally- please share some lovely comments for Kenny's family who will read this. #KennyTheFrenchie #YearsDogFood #DogFoodRecall #FrenchBulldog #DogsDeserveBetter
