@davidjpphillips: Share this really effective & easy technique to lower stress, anxiety or nervousness with someone in your life that could benefit from it 💛 This psychological trick is called the "Physiological Sigh" and is, simply put, a breathing pattern consisting of two inhales through your nose and then followed by an extended exhale through your mouth. One important thing to remember in order for this to have the best effect is to make sure the exhale is longer than the inhales - this is what signals to your brain to lower your heart rate and stress levels. Stress does have an important purpose for us humans as it kept our ancestors alive on the savannah but as you know, we don't live in the same dangerous environment today. Our mind can, however, still perceive something non-life-threatening as life-threatening which then will act as a catalyst to increase our stress levels. That's why this easy breathing technique is so good and important to know! So that you can help yourself lower those stress levels and calm down whenever you need to. Isn't the human body the coolest?! 🤩 #StressRelief #stress #physiologicalsigh #cortisol #SelfImprovement #nervoussystemregulation #anxietyrelief
Any suggestions to help lift the mind of a 90+ widowed lady - that feels down and that there's nothing left 😢 (my mum - I try but can't get through how important she is 🙇♀️) How to give hope 🙏

anything that gives us a "pause" will help us disengage with anxiety.

It absolutely works. I have always done it as two quick inhales and a long yawn. Same thing I guess but it does work.
