i think she’s just trying to treat her like any other interviewee. same thing as not directly speaking to the interpreter. it’s a level of respect imo

Honestly (just my op) even those I can’t understand ASL I still look and listen to the person signing not the interpreter so I’d probably hand the mic to her too not even thinking.

Autopilot. I worked at Ronald McDonald house as a manager and we always asked discharged parents to call us back and let us know how things are going. I told an Amish family to call 😂😂

Probably just habit to direct the microphone to the person she's interviewing. She treated Marlee like any other celebrity she interviewed that night.

Interviewer did it right though. She didn't assume Marlee couldn't speak (which she can). Gave Marlee the option on how she wanted to communicate.
