I regularly passed out in high school from ovarian cysts rupturing. My Catholic parents wouldn’t allow me to get of birth control. I still have a lot of anger about it.

Period used to be very heavy/12-16 days and my dad refused to let me go on BC. My older cousin found out & snuck me to PP and told me that it was not okay to suffer like that. She saved me.🥹

My mom was like that even when birth control was medically necessary to control a too heavy period. Luckily was able to get some help without her consent. I can’t imagine that choice being taken away

I put both my girls on bc in 8th & 9th grade for debilitating pain due to ovulation (didn’t tell their father). They would miss school & spend days in the severe pain/vomiting. Not just contraception.

I got BC for my daughter didn't tell her father because he didn't want to know. I am her mother and if I want to to let her go BC I shouldn't have to get his "permission" anyways.

In Pa, once kids are 14 they don’t need parental consent for most medical things. As a parent of 3 teens, I agree with our State. It’s up to me to maintain a good relationship so I’m in the know.

Being able to get birth control as a teenager allowed me to get to college w/o a baby. My mom would have allowed it, but I was too embarrassed to ask her & I wouldn't have.
