Was this in a hospital setting? A birth center? Was the midwife a CNM, not a lay midwife? She could have written orders to check heart tones q whatever. Sounds like there was a breakdown in MANY areas

This why in my birthplan I just told them to leave me be until Im ready to push. I dont want to be bothered. And no I didnt have a choice in birthing in a hospital. I wanted a home birth.
