That means many people who were told their iron was "normal" may actually be iron deficient. 😳 Ferritin measures your body's iron stores. Here are the new thresholds for iron deficiency: 👩 Adults, including menstruating and pregnant women: 30 or below (many labs used to use about 15) ⚠️ Higher-risk groups, like women with heavy periods: 50 or below 🔥 Adults with inflammation (IBD, cancer, infection): below 100 👶 Young children (9 months–4 years): 20 or below Why this matters: Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in the world, and it's often missed.
