Also, if you have to stay after work to complete your work, suggests you can't complete your work in the time given. Not promoting the person who takes longer to get things done

I got passed up on 3 promotions to supervisor because I did way more work than who got the promotion. I quit on the spot every time.

plus, being able to complete all tasks within the regular hours shows a great deal of planning ability, I wouldn't want to trust a higher position to someone always scrambling and needing extra time
