I got told by one of my L&D nurses that I wasn’t going to get a gold star for not getting an epidural.

My biggest tip for new moms- have a birth plan but also prepare for it to change! Neither of mine went how I wanted but I knew better with my second.

I had it in my birth plan that I wanted no one to mention the epidural. I wanted it to be my choice. when I did choose one, I felt empowered instead of defeated

Jen did you ever consider becoming a hospital-based midwife? I imagine you'd be incredible just hearing your ability to educate and support with empathy.

My nurses loved when I told them I just wanted to go with the flow. If I was fine, no meds, if I didn't care for the pain, all the meds. 😅

i remember the moment the nurse stared into my eyes and said "we don't have time to do this the way you wanted" and because of your "birth vibes", I was okay.

I had a birth goal. I wanted to hold my baby. I really didn’t care how we got to the goal.

My birth plan was literally trying for unmediated but whatever I needed is what I’d do. I got an epidural 6 hours into a 10 hour labor

I've never really understood the whole birth plan thing. I think it gives people a false sense of security, feeling like they can plan how it will go. but that's often not the case

I’m super worried about not being listened to at the hospital, the NP at my OB’s office swept my membranes last week and didn’t tell me until after. It’s definitely affecting how much trust I have

I am so glad that a lot of the stuff has come so far since my older two boys were born. My second was an induction. they tried to send me home because I didn't take an epidural class which meant (1)

I did it twice… did I regret it right at the peak of labor… yes. Was it worth it? For me personally yes. And my nurses and doctor worked really well with my body to ensure it was able to do that…..

I never said I wouldn’t get an epidural. I told myself if I ever had the thought “I can’t do this” I would consider the epidural. When that back labor hit- I knew I needed it for my mental state.

Pregnant with baby #5. I’ve had 3 unmedicated and this is some of the best birthing advice I’ve heard 👏

My birth plan was set for me years before I became pregnant. I had to have a c section in order for me and my child to live. I had two c sections. I waited till I went into labor with my second child

My prenatal class did a walkthrough of this with reversible flash cards. You put the birth plan in order of importance. Each step of the way we talked

Hi! Off topic, but I started experiencing prodromal labor, I think. I had contractions 2 min apart, 1 min long, for an hour. Then it stopped. Its happened before. How do I know when it’s real labor?
