@joanna.dementia.e: In a recent video, I shared tips on getting a dementia diagnosis, and I got a bunch of questions about why it's crucial. Getting diagnosed isn't just about a label—it's about empowering yourself and your loved ones for a better journey ahead. I have tried all your strategies to get mom to the dr for a diagnosis and yet she refuses. I still wonder what kind of dementia she has. 🤷🏻♀️

Make sure to put everything in a legal trust early. In most states, there is a 5 year look back

They think my dad has Wernicke/alcohol induced dementia. He’s been in the hospital for 2 weeks now and still no diagnosis. How do I get the hospitalist to diagnose him? They’ve done their fair share of CT scans.

The biggest issue is convincing the person they need to be evaluated. I am going to have to wait for a catastrophe before my SO will ever admit evaluation is necessary.

My father passed away a y16 mos ago and my mom’s memory is so bad. Brain scan came back fine six months ago but more recently. Her short-term memory seems really bad.

Agree!! It was soooo hard & time consuming to get care for my mom without it. Legally couldn't move her into memory care until proof of 24/7 needs/care with Alzheimers

HELP! My dad has perfect memory but delusions, hallucinations and sleep issues. All scans looked like “normal aging” . He passes MMSE. I can’t get anyone to help me. Neurology referrals take 1 year.
