because in australia the cost for taxi plates which are required to work as a driver cost 100 of thousands where as anyone could circumvent it

Taxis are so bad here. A 40 minute drive in a taxi costs $120, Uber that same drive was $75

The issue here was that to be a taxi driver in australia you needed a fairly expensive license. But Uber is basically a taxi ignoring that license because it’s TECHNICALLY not a taxi.

the reason the taxi drivers were mad was because they are required to get special licences that cost lik $25k and keep up with the laws n stuff were uber got around this
