@thabani.mtsi: Nelson Mandela is one of my favorite oritors; he articulates himself and is charismatic. Watch him politely decline this Swedish journalist's request. He first says "No" flat-out. She tries to convince him. He asks her why she's making the request, he acknowledges her response, and then proposes an alternative he's more comfortable with. This is called the "sure, but" technique. It acknowledges the other person, reinforces the refusal, and then puts forward a proposal that will serve as a compromise. Masterfully done.
