I would say that not everyone has 401k especially if you have trade jobs. In my case I sometimes couldn’t afford to put money away on 401k and when I got laid off I had to take out from it to live.

Then we pay taxes towards our Social Security (retirement) which won’t even be enough to pay for a cheap rent let alone food and other expenses

401k is dependent on the stock market, mostly. Italys food is NOT poison (like pop tarts etc)

I wouldn’t recommend moving to Italy. Dirty roads, rude, racism and the economy is worse then USA. They live together because is expensive to move from their parents 🏡
