Too much direct light can be harmful, so I used green plants to provide some shade. This allows enough sunlight for the algae to grow without overheating the tank. No filtration is needed during the process, but after a week, when the tank walls and water start turning green, you can begin feeding your turtle. I recommend using koi wheat germ food, which is low in protein and fat to avoid clouding the water. As the algae grows, you'll notice it starting to attach to the turtle's shell. Once this happens, you can change the water in small amounts to maintain a healthy environment. By around 90 days, your turtle will have grown beautiful, flowing green hair!
