Could it possibly be related to the message that is sent by the artists through their art? (bts for example talk a lot about mental health)

We have a saying in our fandom: they come to us when we are at our worst. They saved and helped heal so many ppl 🥰

I think it also has a lot to do with the fandoms. It's a community. Those relationships are real and it makes us so happy to share about our interest.+

I think it's bc in general idols are more in "direct" contact with their fans (lives, etc) and the parasocial relationship feels more reciprocated

I am a kpop fan and I think I have pretty good mental health. It cld be because of what the celebs are putting eg Bts had a whole album about love urself, preach kindness. I love kpop because of the -

i feel like western fans dont rlly care about celebs’ overall wellbeing but we know how hard it is for an idol in the kpop industry so nothing makes us happier than seeing our idols happy and health

Now take a look at the idols's mental health. That's where the sad story begins. Maybe the kpop fans are happier but it's not always the case for the idols.

I can imagine that it is because of the whole vibe and positivity that is mostly conveyed through the music and idols themselves. The valence of the music is influencing your mood and affect so that

id guess its because the relationship is reciprocated in the way that kidols do lives, behind the scenes and post on places like weverse etc so its more personal. i know that connection helps me!

The abundance of contact (fancalls, fansigns, idols visiting cupsleeve events etc) increases the parasocial relationship a LOT. Plus most idols aren’t A-list celebs, less fans = closer bond

I feel like kpop artists give fans WAYY more to be obsessed with but also more to regulate/ make us happy throughout the day.whereas westerners release 1 album every 5 yrs so fans have to wait longer?
