Where do you think tomatoes are being harvested right now? Probably 5000 miles away. By the time they get to the store they are a week old.

I worked in the produce department for a few months and the tomatoes were always horrible. I think it has to do with the way they are shipped and the moisture they’re exposed to.

I work with transportation for produce and most produce comes from Southern Mexico, Chile, Argentina, at best it takes 3-4 days to arrive at the border plus 5-9 days to clear customs

I mean they’re not in season right now in the US; so they’re getting shipped from the other side of the world while being a food that typically doesn’t last long on the shelf
