Lily is a 14 year old retired brood mare, who joined us this week from Easton Farm Park in Suffolk. 🐎🤩🥰 Classed as a priority breed on the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) Watchlist, the Suffolk Punch is one of the oldest breeds of working horse. Traditionally used for transporting artillery and carrying out heavy farm work – the modernisation of agricultural machinery over the years has seen the population rapidly decline. Numbers are on the up again (slowly) - but you can read more on our latest blog. Lily has settled in wonderfully and enjoys a fuss from her keepers and meeting new guests - before heading out for a run in her paddocks at the end of the day.
