@gloss: 😱 The Scream at the Munch Museum 😱 Did you know there are several different versions of Edvard Munch’s “The Scream”? The two painted versions are on display at @munchmuseet.no and in the National Museum of Norway. The Scream (1910?), exhibited at MUNCH, has been the centre of extensive debate over the years as to when it was actually painted. Different arguments suggest that it was painted in 1906, 1910 or between 1915-18. In an attempt to solve this mystery once and for all, MUNCH collaborated with researchers from the University of Antwerp and HIROX Europe. The researchers performed detailed investigations of pigments and paint layers of the painting using high-tech equipment (against other artworks with confirmed dating) in an attempt to more accurately date this work. 🔬 Considering the large amount of collected data, solving this mystery will take several months, but we’ll let you know when they find out. In the meantime, The Scream (1910?) is back on display at the Munch Museum 😱 🖼️
