The book documents the intimate relationship that thousands of Black African Muslims and Black Arab Muslims had with the Prophet, highlights the pivotal roles they played in the early Muslim community, as well as the inspiring lives of other Black nobles before and after the Prophet's time, and African words found in the Qur'an. A highly recommended book.My first book, Illuminating the Darkness. is an abridged translation of 9th century Iraqi scholar Imam Ibn al-Jawzi's book of the same name. The book critically addresses the issue of racial discrimination and colour prejudice in religious history. Challenging common misconceptions about black people in Islam, the book presents short biographies of noble black and North African Muslim men and women in Islamic history including Prophets, Companions, scholars and more recent historical figures.
