The Baikal Skullcap is just going off in the Blue Crow Botanicals gardens right now!💜💜 💜The folks at Blue Crow grow the most beautiful medicine and make the most integrity-filled, potent tinctures. When I formulate tincture blends for clients it's Blue Crow who mostly fills these formulas for my clients- in other words they help make my clinical herbal practice doable bc I simply have too many aspects of my business going on to be able to fill and stock my apothecary for my practice myself. So I lean into community💜 It's such a pleasure to wander through the gardens that provide so much medicine for my practice. Thank you Blue Crow! I'm so grateful for you! And these lovely gardens are housed Just Roots Community Farm and CSA in Greenfield where I also teach classes so that's a sweet connection too!🌿🧺🌸Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis) is in the same genus as the Skullcap more commonly known in herbalism- the nervine Scutellaria lateriflora- however it's used quite differently! This plant comes to us by way of Chinese herbalism (it's pin yin name is Huang Qin). It's considered to be a very cold and dry herb and it's the root that is primarily used. The roots are a golden-yellow color and rich in the flavonoid baicalin. Both this constituent and Baikal Skullcap have been extensively studied for their anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine, antimicrobial, and antioxidant actions and more and you can find loads of studies with just a quick pub med search. And it's super easy to grow in the garden here in the northeast and so gorgeous in the late summer garden💜🌿💜 #milkandhoneyherbs #bluecrowbotanicals #herbalism #herbalist #clinicalherbalist #clinicalherbalism #baikalskullcap #huangqin #fyp #tcm #plantmedicine #herbgarden #growyourown
