@solani_______: In the 1960’s USA was in racial turmoil. With both Malcolm X and MLK being assasinated prior to the Olympic games, Thommie Smith and John Carlos took to the big stage to raise their leather covered fists in protest, and in solidarity with their people amongst all that was happening at the time. Their stance at the podium sparked controversy and even led to the ending of Peter Norman’s career (Australian man on the left).
