This happened to me a lot when I was a kid. I would hear my mom call my name and naturally would respond with a what or yeah, and then my actual mom would say she didn't say anything.

I may have encountered a mimic when I was little. My mom and I was on our way home. We cross the street and I heard my mom’s voice calling me down a corner but I can see my mom right besides me.
