We were so inspired by people’s kindness in Afghanistan despite the uncertainty and unimaginable hardships they face. The name Afghanistan can bring to mind many different things. But what is so often forgotten are the millions of unbelievably kind and welcoming people who live there. We don’t want to focus our videos on politics, but instead to share about our experience meeting so many incredible people. However, we are more aware now than ever of the current situation in Afghanistan, and what that means for so many people living there. The need is immense and truly heartbreaking. Afghanistan is currently one of the poorest countries in the world, with the average family making between $400-$600 a year. And on top of that, there is so much uncertainty about the future of the country. While we were visiting, we learned about some incredible local organizations who are doing amazing things to help the local community. So we have set up a fundraiser for anyone who wants to contribute to what they are doing to help. (As a side note and for transparency, we tried to set up a GoFundMe since that’s the site we know the best, but unfortunately right now GoFundMe does not allow people to start fundraisers related to Afghanistan. So instead we created a fundraiser through Spotfund, which is listed in our profile). We have already concluded our trip to Afghanistan, and are posting these videos afterward. We are so grateful for the incredible local people we met in Afghanistan, and look forward to sharing more about our experience over the next couple weeks.
