I used to live in a house with a black slate floor in the foyer. it was a townhouse, very small foyer, and it worked out well. easier to clean and maintain than the hard wood in the rest of the house, prefect for an entryway where people have wet and dirty shoes. didn't make the space feel small at all.

It’s really not impossible to keep clean. i have it in my master and it’s no higher maintenance than any other color tile.
