i think more dances would get pulled for not being ready if comps gave refunds 😅 parents def would not appreciate a dance being pulled bc it’s not ready, they don’t always get it and then on top of

You have to pay comp fees months in advance. Pulling out at the last minute means those fees are lost. Sometimes those judges comments can be the kick the kids need to step up for next comp

also not all dancers have to be comp dancers!! like dance studios can just be to train and not get forced on stage early as possible

You would hate the UK, where most comps we enter have about 5 Studios competing, but it has been as low as 3. And the routines aren't always comp perfect, but at £10 an entry (max), it's not hurting

As someone who has taken a clearly not ready dance to the next level- sometimes it’s necessary to show the dancers that they didn’t put the work in and the judges know. It’s not my fav strategy
