having grown up with it, and rewatching it I don't feel like Zuko had a 'redemption' arc. Zuko is a child, and had bad habits and views, but he never did anything that warrants redemption he threatens

Iroh is already a part of the White Lotus before the show. He may have already been planning to fight against the fire nation and just chose to stick by Zuko's side to guide him.
