I can guarantee you this is not the case. The dealership should make 2 to 3 grand in the front per car. Also another 1500 to 3 grand in the back.

you’re talking about fixed absorption. And yes if a dealership has a high fixed absorption than they can risk lower grosses on cars.

A dealership told me they were already losing $ on a ‘22 Honda Accord at sticker price & couldn’t take less. I negotiated OTD price $3k down & purchased it. They’re fine 🤷🏻♀️😂

It’s been about 20 years since dealerships have had 100% absorption through the service departments…really good dealers now run about 75%.
