@erinraii: People would ask questions about my hair and where I’m from but it didn’t make me feel unsafe in the way it would here in the states. Overall, China is a very safe country. The freedom that gives your brain is something I wish we could all have. I could exsit without fear and even walk around at 3am safely. It is just so different from the US. There were hard parts ofc but overall looking back on it, there was an ease to life that can’t be replicated in the states. I had a similar experience, I'm an nb queer woman. One thing, Sometimes my hours at work got really crazy, like 12 shifts for days in a row, but on those days I always had paid meals and nap time.
