im a cert mechanic, and im sold... this is also why there is magnets at the end of some drain plugs and in transmissions.. this should be a thing

Allison transmissions used to come with a round magnet that went around the center of the spin on pcs filter. They caught very fine metal almost like paste when wiped off.

Think about metals for a moment, if you had real metal that is attracted to magnets, then your engine is in serious trouble. Normal wear from engine bearings is babbitt material and is not magnetic.

I work as an Aircraft mechanic and the drain points on helicopters all have magnets and are sometimes connected to warning lights on the dash. It's good to know if your components are making metal.
