You guys are saying why is the cop being so nice but when you are a police officer you have to think smart and when you make someone feel comfortable enough with you they are easier to open up and actually express the truth to you so maybe she wanted to make him feel like she’s trustworthy so he can feel more comfortable sharing more to her.

They aren’t being nice because they want too, dude is offering up the information of exactly what he did, you don’t suddenly want him to be alarmed he’s in trouble and he did wrong especially because the way he’s talking is like everything is completely normal. They want to get the most information out of him and clearly they did because he was unable to plead insanity and is doing life.

I think their being nice so he doesn't close up and will tell them more information about what happened..if their nasty,he might not divulge any information on things they need to know,it's a mind game to them,to get as much info as possible...im sure they don't want to be nice,but must be to keep him feeling like he can talk freely etc..
