Tomorrow, July 3rd, our sweet boy Rick will go in for the first of what may be multiple major surgeries to repair the damage done to his little body before he ever came into our home. Because of the abuse he suffered at the hands of his birth mother, both of the femoral heads in his legs were completely broken off. They aren’t attached to his pelvis at all. Let that sink in for a second. And yet—somehow—Rick walks. Runs. Climbs. Laughs. Every single step he takes defies medical explanation. One doctor looked me in the eye and said, “We’ve never seen anything like this before.” This first surgery will focus on the left femur and hip, which is the worst. It’s risky. There’s a high chance he’ll need a blood transfusion. Depending on how it goes, a third or even fourth surgery may follow. And once it’s done, Rick will be in a spica cast for 12 weeks. No child should ever have to go through this—especially not because of abuse. Rick and his two siblings came into our home as foster children two years ago. We adopted all three in December 2024. We are their forever home, and we’re walking this road with him—no matter how long or hard it gets. I’m asking you to please pray. 🙏 Pray for Rick—his healing, his comfort, his courage. 🙏 Pray for the surgeons—that God would steady their hands and give them wisdom no textbook can provide. 🙏 Pray for our family—that we’d be strong, steady, and faithful through every difficult moment.
