As a bartender- I always use dry vermouth but I just coat the martini glass with it then pour it out never had a complaint.

This is why I sound like a crazy person when I order a martini: I want at least half oz of vermouth. It makes a difference. Vermouth is delightful I don't know what ppl have against it.
