@courtney_art: Pricing original artwork can be so challenging. I’ve personally found that the best approach to pricing originals is by the level of detail and time invested. Not all paintings are created equal in terms of complexity so I typically don’t find that pricing based on square inch is an effective method. Most of my paintings take anywhere from 1 week to a couple months to complete, and although I don’t have a strict per-hour rate, I know approximately how much I want to make per week and use that number as a starting point. Also, over time as your skills and experience grow, so should your prices.
