@debtfreegonnabe: On Thursday, Kansas along with Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas and Utah filed a lawsuit to overturn the SAVE repayment plan. The lawsuit argues that President Biden overstepped his authority and that the SAVE program is a scheme to provide widespread debt relief even though the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) struck it down last year. Kansas was also involved in the lawsuit that got President Biden’s first attempt at student debt cancellation struck down by SCOTUS. Of course these states still need to prove standing but this action give us more insight into what I’ve been saying all along: Should a Republican win the next presidential election, SAVE and other student debt relief in the works, will be in jeopardy.
