you should really try doing a perm rod set! the curls stay for a long time and it won’t shrink if you do it right, look up some videos on how to do it hope that helps!

suggest using a strong edge control like edge booster to slick down ur swoops (or with any kind of style) and wrapping ur hair with a scarf to help it stay longer.

If you want your curls too look more define when your doing your wash and go you have to do smaller sections when your defining your curls hope this helps

Have you tried wetting the section of hair you want to slick down before you put the gel or edge control on? I normally do that and use clips or Bobby pins to hold it if rubber bands don’t work

We have very similar hair textures if you want a good wash and go or twist out i’ve learned to stay away was water based products bc all it does it makes our hair revert even faster
