pull the hose from the EGR cooler and check for intrusion. it puts fuel in CYLINDERS

That style of coolant clamp was quite common before we all started using power driven tools. That was a great clamp.Because the screwdriver didn't slide out of the side, because that's all we had.

Apparently you haven’t been a mechanic long. That clamp was used a lot in the 70s and 80s.

That is an OLD style clamp. I mainly see them on cars from the 60s and earlier.

Before head gaskets, I’d change the intake manifold gaskets and while it’s off the engine, check the manifold for cracks.

Get a combustion leak tester. Use it first when suspecting coolant intrusion. Save a lot of time.
