I bought a 3 bed at 26 but I have no kids got a load of help, some inheritance and rent out rooms to lodgers my parents at my age (33) had a 5 bed detached on 1 income and 4 kids that's the difference

I live in the US. Low cost of living city. 2 bed 1 bath is around $200,000. I make 70k, 0 debt, $40,000 to put down today. If the interest rate on it was 7%, Im within $150 of not making ends meet.

I made an argument that homes were not “easily affordable” & some people lost their minds telling me people could get loans. IF you need a loan…it’s not easily affordable. 🙄

it is impossible I literally had a man laugh when I called asking about a mortgage because I would only get a mortgage of 70,000 what is less the half the price of a 1 bed flat in my area

In 70/80/90s only the ‘mans’ income was needed for a mortgage, now both incomes needed and even in some places that still ain’t enough.
