My fatness and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) facial hair are not a badge of honor. Trust me when I tell you that there have been days it’s hard to walk out the door. But my body (and hairy face) have done incredible things anyway. Not in spite of my body, but because of it. ❤️ This isn’t a message “to the haters” or a an empty decree that hurtful words mean nothing. I’ve struggled a little with my online presence because words can hurt. Because words DO matter. Not a single comment introduces me to my body. Not one of them tells me something I don’t know. Words like this hurt sometimes because I do wish these parts of me weren’t a lifelong struggle. But most days words like this hurt not because of the actual words, but because of the place you know they’re coming from. Someone felt better about themselves in typing these things out, other than simply scrolling by. Some may even have felt pride. It hurts because it reminds you of the darkness in the world and the darkness that lives inside of all of us. No, this is not a message to the people who wrote the words, because I can’t heal them. This is a message to the people out there who believe they don’t deserve life because they look a certain way, talk a certain way, or struggle in a way that makes them feel broken. You are not broken. And regardless of whether or not these pieces of you are something you want to change, I want you to know that you are worthy right now. Just as you are…of love, light, and LIFE. And I’m rooting for you. ❤️ . . . . #youcandohardthings #encouragement #pcos #depressionwarrior #clapback #selfimage #womenempoweringwomen
