Hi 👋🏽 currently working as a FETL and sometimes if you can too fast it tries to catch the UPC and sometimes doesn’t catch the full number and the number it catches matches an item on hand

After my surgery I couldn’t bend down to get the stuff on the bottom and they scanned it with a hand held the cashier was holding and it went on my register so it can happen that way but idk about you

I work for a different grocery and if they have a hand held they can scan items onto your transaction with it.

Idk about Walmart but winco can add and take things off your self checkout as we feel needed if we knew the code to add it more than likely it was water because people never rung them up

it is possible that someone scanned an item and didn't pay for it. and the employee didn't catch it on the register before you got there. and you started scanning your items. it happens.

Nope they do this! Even with cashiers. Their system adds random items. It happened to me and I had them remove everything and had them scan it all over again and they were overcharging me $35.

Also isn’t hard for someone to switch a barcode to an item on the shelf and how are you supposed to know when your thinking your buying soup 🤷🏼♀️

I worked at Walmart before and sometimes when I am packing up the shelves and scanning some items have the same codes, they can be totally different yet still they have the same code.

I don’t think they’re discrediting you or your story it’s the fact that the devices that we had can’t do that saying it’s a self checkout issue the register itself has a problem, no one is purposely

No they definitely can and they can change the prices to the correct prices I legit watched a lady do it with my own eyes then she called me over to ring my stuff for me hoe thought I was stealing 🙄

it happened to me once and they couldn't tell us how it happened or what it was because the Barcode the canceled didn't have a picture when I looked it up

I think people may be switching the gun on the registers? Or sometimes the scanner isn’t on there, idk who does this though but it happens ALOT!
