The Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to move ahead with plans to restrict mail-in voting before the midterms. The decision clears, for now, an executive order that would create “citizenship lists” and directs the Postal Service to decide who gets a mail-in ballot. The decision means the administration can proceed with planning for restricting the use of mail ballots even as a lower court continues to weigh the legality of Trump’s executive order. But with little more than two months until Election Day — and considerably less before early voting begins in many states — it remains unclear whether the White House’s rules will be in effect for a midterm election in which control of both chambers is at stake. This Car's WINDSHIELD Now Charges Itself With Solar Power #news #technology #china #cars A car in China just did something no vehicle anywhere has done before. Its panoramic glass roof is no longer just glass. It is a working solar panel, built from a material called perovskite, generating real electricity while the car sits parked in the sun. China First Automotive Works, the company behind the Hongqi brand, cracked a problem that had stumped researchers everywhere. Perovskite is famously fragile. It breaks down around water, oxygen, and ultraviolet light, which made it nearly impossible to seal onto a curved car roof built to survive years of heat and weather. Their new sealing process solved that, and the result is a full sized solar roof producing close to three hundred watts in direct sunlight, enough to run the air conditioning and the fridge without draining the main battery. Over a year, that adds up to roughly four hundred kilowatt hours of free clean power. And this is only the beginning. The same team projects that once solar panels spread across the hood, the roof, and other body panels, a future car could generate up to ten kilowatt hours a day. That is enough to add about eighty kilometers of range for free, every single day, covering the vast majority of daily driving needs without ever plugging in. This is what passive energy looks like when engineers stop treating the sun as decoration and start treating it as fuel. Watch to see how close solar powered driving really is to becoming ordinary.
