I go to a small beach where all my older kids can touch the ground all the way out and they know how to swim (not strong swimmers tho). And my youngest has to wear his life jacket if he's playing near

My kids have both done swim lessons and NEVER worn a puddle jumper. My two year old isn't super confident yet but he can safely play in and around the pool and if he falls he immediately floats.

we were told to use that when my.kids were really little and my kid tripped and fell face first in a wading pool (only a foot deep) and couldn't roll over either it to get his head up. first and ONLY

Everywhere near me is 1:2 ratio for children under 8. My eldest is 8 and can swim(ish) but there are many places I wouldn’t go on my own with him and my 2yo. Our local pool, he can touch the floor…

As a lifeguard- THANK YOU!! It is so infuriating when parents stick a puddle jumper on their kids and then just leave them thinking the PJ/I will help them, I am there for WORST CASE SCENARIO

Puddlejumpers aren’t a thing in the uk, but I think they’re the same as armbands? But I’m confused if I can’t put her in armbands at the pool how is she going to learn? Just to say she could swim by 2

I literally won’t take my kids near any body of water without a 1:1 parent to kid ratio. No way no how. I UNDERSTAND the risk.

My two yr old laughs at this. She will go swimming all day long. A splash pad? Eh 🤷🏻♀️May keep her occupied 10 minutes if I'm lucky. 🙄 Things that keep them afloat are better than nothing.

one reason why we won't do more than 2 kids. if needed we can split up and one kid gets full parent attention, especially in places like pools.
