@swimcoachkendall: Replying to @Becci puddle jumpers are not a substitute for swim lessons or touch supervision. Its not safe to be outnumbered at the pool with children who cant swim. #puddlejumper #swimmingpool #swimlessons #parentingtips #momsbelike #watersafety #toddlertok #swimminglessons #fypage

I go to a small beach where all my older kids can touch the ground all the way out and they know how to swim (not strong swimmers tho). And my youngest has to wear his life jacket if he's playing near

My kids have both done swim lessons and NEVER worn a puddle jumper. My two year old isn't super confident yet but he can safely play in and around the pool and if he falls he immediately floats.

As a lifeguard we actually started to ban them at one of the pools I worked at because parents think they can walk away and they can’t

we were told to use that when my.kids were really little and my kid tripped and fell face first in a wading pool (only a foot deep) and couldn't roll over either it to get his head up. first and ONLY

Everywhere near me is 1:2 ratio for children under 8. My eldest is 8 and can swim(ish) but there are many places I wouldn’t go on my own with him and my 2yo. Our local pool, he can touch the floor…

It sucks when the answer is “if you’re not able to do it safely, you can’t do it” but it’s so important to prioritize safety. 10/10 message

As a lifeguard- THANK YOU!! It is so infuriating when parents stick a puddle jumper on their kids and then just leave them thinking the PJ/I will help them, I am there for WORST CASE SCENARIO

hey I haven't got a car big enough for my kids, can I just not use seatbelts and they can sit on each others laps?

This same concept applies to tons of activities, even going to nice restaurants, but so many people just don’t want to hear it.

This was such a point of contention when I was a lifeguard and our pool didn’t allow water wings or puddle jumpers. Youre exactly right, though.

we banned all floatation devices because of the sheer amount of parents who were just putting their kids in the water and ignoring them

I started at 17 months for my middle, do I start sooner than that for my youngest? Once they can walk, can they learn to swim?

Splash pads were a life saver for me when both kids were toddlers. I couldn’t possibly watch them both.

Puddlejumpers aren’t a thing in the uk, but I think they’re the same as armbands? But I’m confused if I can’t put her in armbands at the pool how is she going to learn? Just to say she could swim by 2

I literally won’t take my kids near any body of water without a 1:1 parent to kid ratio. No way no how. I UNDERSTAND the risk.

My two yr old laughs at this. She will go swimming all day long. A splash pad? Eh 🤷🏻‍♀️May keep her occupied 10 minutes if I'm lucky. 🙄 Things that keep them afloat are better than nothing.

I was taught pretty young how to swim cause my uncle and dad were tired of seeing me just sit at the big ledge we had in our pool at our house at the time so they taught me to swim kids can learn from

one reason why we won't do more than 2 kids. if needed we can split up and one kid gets full parent attention, especially in places like pools.

I made it a priority that my daughter could swim, been in lessons since 16 weeks and is now 3 and can pretty much swim independently now
