I leave mine alone. It doesn’t take long for the eggs to hatch & the babies don’t stay around long after that.

The entire process from laying to fledgling is about 30 days once they’re gone, you can move it. They won’t damage the door.

I'm pretty sure you could thread a piece of drawer liner vinyl behind it, which will peel off when the babies leave the nest in about four months

This happened to us. We moved it less than five feet away to the side of the door because they kept panicking & flying inside. It worked.

I’ve had this happen several years in a row. I left it alone till the babies were gone, then I finally had to get a new wreath, cause they make a mess sometimes.
