Missouri is the 18th most populous #state with 6,178,351 residents, the majority of which live in/around two major #cities, #StLouis and #KansasCity. Both cities are located at the edge of the state, due to them both being nearby the confluence point of major internal waterways within the #UnitedStates, in the case of #STL, the #MissouriRiver and #Mississippi #River, and in #KC’s case, the #Kansas and Missouri #rivers. While Kansas City is the largest #city in the state, the St. Louis #metro is larger than that of KC’s (sometimes known as #KCMO). The state is arguably #midwest, but some consider it part of the #south, since the #ozarkmountains portion of the state, next to #Arkansas, has a markedly different culture than the northern portion of the state, near #Iowa and #Illinois, which is flatter and more heavily centered around agriculture. #Branson is a famous tourist destination in the #ozarks, as is #lakeoftheozarks, while #Springfield is the largest city in the region, with #Joplin following by. #JeffersonCity is the state #capital, with the #capitol building being right along the Missouri River, and #Columbia is the largest city in central Missouri, being home to #MU, the #UniversityofMissouri.
