@erictastic: You’ve seen it. Every preacher curl in the world has that uncomfortable crack in both sides where everyone digs their elbows into the pad. That crack happens because just about everyone is doing the exercise wrong. When your elbow pushes down into the machine it pops up your shoulder and pulls the pressure of the exercise out of your bicep and pulls it into the bicep tendon where it attaches in the shoulder. See how I’m sitting low enough that it pulls me back and my elbow doesn’t drive into the machine at all? It barely touches it. But look at how engaged my biceps are! Set the machine so you’re sitting low enough so that your tricep (not your elbow) rests on the pad and it will make a world of difference in targeting and developing your biceps. I’ll give this one a try. The problem is I have a very long torso and most of the time when I set the machine to the very bottom seating setting I still sit tall in the saddle.
