im canada i send ny tax return and if anything is off or they're adjusting my about the CRA just says "hey,you said x, but for y+z reason we are lowering the return" and they just do it automatically.

in Europe we don't do that. You get your net wages, the company pays your taxes, health... in a store we pay tax included. for property tax they tell you how much you pay each year.

in Sweden it is more like this much you have paid. this is how much you would pay and we took too much and think this is how much you should get back.

México has that exact same system and when You're supposed to get a taxi refund they Say "nah i don't like it" and they give You less and charge taxes to the refund they said were gonna give You

the IRS doesn't know how much you owe, then know how much you've paid. they don't know what deductions you qualify for, or what additional non-W2 income you have
