My state of Maine has paid maternity they fought hard to have it not passed but it was 10 weeks off

I also wanna point out is it just me or do men tend to get more paid paternity? I was able to take off for 6 weeks partial pay, but my husband got a month off full pay

How about paid leave for both? Women need to recoup, and their partners are valuable parts of helping the family then and going forward. Helping and bonding as a unit, w/o money pressures is vital.

We love that in Canada the 1 year is called Parental leave. it can be split between the 2 parents however we desire! 6m together, 1s 6m mom and 2nd 6 months dad... 8t doesn't matter. it' amazing

Had a regular delivery. My muscles were so sore, it was hard to get up quickly. Having hubby helped. Can't imagine those with c-sections.

I wish so badly my husband would have gotten some sort of paid leave when I had my second. Taking care of two kids and healing from a c section without his help was extremely difficult.

I’m Canadian - I can’t imagine not having time off to tend to a new baby, for the mother to heal properly, for mother/father become used to having a newborn with lack of sleep, etc.

My husband was given one week of leave when I had our son. I had a C-section and I wish he’d been given longer than one week to help me. I also wish that I had paid leave so I hope we can work on that

My husband quit his job to be able to have time off with our newborn. Then I had a c-section! If I wouldn’t have had him I wouldn’t have had anyone! I don’t know how people do it alone!
