Fawning is often misunderstood as kindness, accommodation, or simply being agreeable. But when it’s rooted in childhood trauma, it’s much more than that. It’s a survival reflex. It’s the child in you who learned that in order to be safe—emotionally, mentally, or even physically—you had to abandon your own needs and prioritize everyone else’s. It’s the automatic response of someone who was taught early on that their value was tied to how well they could please others. When you’ve been raised in an environment where love, approval, or safety were conditional, fawning becomes second nature. Over time, you learn to contort yourself into whatever shape others demand, believing that if you can just be good enough, just make everyone else happy, then maybe—just maybe—you’ll finally be accepted. Healing from fawning isn’t about suddenly becoming assertive or throwing yourself into confrontation. It’s about recognizing that you no longer have to rely on the reflexes of your childhood to survive. You are not that child anymore. You don’t have to silence your needs to be loved or accepted. YOU CAN HEAL! If I can help you do that please reach out 👉 @beatanxiety.me ---
