A trick I’ve learned to put my savings first is setting up direct deposit to my savings account each paycheck. That way I only have bill money in my checking acc

I learned that I had to pay bills (including min payments), buy groceries, whatever else I wanted and the extra went to cards.

That’s exactly what I do . Sometimes even just walking into a dollar store & giving myself a $5 budget to get what I’d like is all I need.
