@cspanofficial: White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby on Thursday declined to specify how U.S. policy toward Israel might change if the country doesn’t implement steps to better protect civilians and allow more aid to flow into Gaza, as President Biden warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on a call earlier in the day. “I’m not going to preview steps. I’m not going to preview decisions that haven’t been made yet. But there are things that need to be done,” he told reporters. “There has to be tangible steps. Let’s see what they announce. Let’s see what they direct. Let’s see what they do. But I’m not going to get ahead of that.” The call between the two leaders followed Israeli forces killing seven aid workers with the World Central Kitchen. The attack drew outrage from the international community and increased calls from congressional Democrats to halt U.S. arms supplies to Israel or impose conditions for their use. “We’re looking for concrete steps to alleviate humanitarian suffering in Gaza,” Mr. Kirby said. “If there’s no changes to their policy and their approaches, then there’s going to have to be changes to ours.” Mr. Kirby said the White House expects Israel to announce the changes in the “coming hours and days.” #whitehouse #johnkirby #worldcentralkitchen #wck #cspan
